About Us

A small corner of the internet where beginners learn to craft, build, and make their homes a little more handmade.

Hi, I’m Saikal. Welcome to OKI HERE — easy DIY crafts.

I started this site in April 2022 as a cozy personal project to write absolute beginner-friendly how-to articles.

I wanted to create a welcoming, stress-free space where making handmade home decor feels completely doable, even if you have never held a paintbrush or glue gun before.

Grab some materials and let’s start crafting together!

Who Is Behind OKI HERE?

Saikal leads OKI HERE as the dedicated founder and lead editor. She has been happily crafting for over five years, officially launching the website in April 2022 immediately after writing her very first how-to article on a simple macrame project.

To this day, Saikal personally tests every tutorial before hitting publish to ensure maximum clarity. She works closely alongside Giulia Subashi, our wonderful contributing editor who brings her brilliant expertise in soft furnishings and textile DIY to help you seamlessly create truly beautiful fabric crafts at home.

How We Create Our Helpful Content

We take genuine pride in a highly hands-on editorial process. Saikal writes or reviews every single article, ensuring the steps actually work by personally testing them whenever physically possible.

We always fact-check our material carefully before publishing. While we occasionally use AI tools to help with initial research or outlining, a real human heavily edits and reviews every piece.

We want you to trust completely that our instructions are genuinely accurate, safe, and entirely ready for absolute beginners to follow.

A World Where Anyone Can Make Things

We clearly picture a world where absolute beginners feel totally confident picking up their very first craft project without any lingering fear of doing it wrong.

Making things for your home should always feel highly accessible and affordable, regardless of your current skill level or specific budget. We want to completely remove the heavy pressure of perfection and instead actively celebrate the wonderful, slightly messy process of creating beautiful handmade pieces that make you smile every single day.

Where We Are Heading Next Together

As OKI HERE continues to grow steadily, we plan on expanding into highly helpful video tutorials to guide you visually through our absolute favorite projects.

We also want to build an active, supportive reader community where we can all happily share our handmade wins. Of course, we will keep exploring even more beginner-friendly niches within DIY and home decor to maintain your creative momentum.

Our Mission Statement in One Line

Our core goal is incredibly simple: to inspire everyday creators to transform their homes and lives through simple, budget-friendly DIY projects that absolutely anyone can make — no prior experience required.

In practice, this means we completely skip the complicated jargon and highly expensive tools. We focus purely on finding clever, highly affordable ways to bring a little extra handmade joy right into your living space, one easy weekend project at a time.

What We Stand For Every Day

Everything we publish rests firmly on four important core values. First, we prioritize absolute approachability, ensuring our tutorials feel exactly like warm advice from a crafty friend rather than a strict lecture.

Second, we practice budget-conscious creativity because making beautiful projects definitely does not require buying expensive materials.

Third, we remain deeply honest and transparent by sharing exactly what works and what completely fails during our hands-on testing process.

Finally, we strongly believe in celebrating imperfection. Handmade ultimately means human-made, and we genuinely think those slightly wobbly lines are wonderful features, not flaws to fix.

Meet Our Makers

We’re not a big editorial team — just two people who love making things and sharing what we learn along the way
